GVH has been family owned and operated since 1959, making us the most established veterinary hospital serving the Charlottesville area. We serve our community whenever possible. We have an extremely low rate of staff turnover this translates into happy, experienced staff to care for you and your pets!
We provide excellence in veterinary medical care and we do so in a compassionate and professional environment. We treat your pets like family. We provide easy access to your pet’s doctor whenever you need it. We are known for our personal phone calls, generous appointment times and prompt call backs. For these reasons and more, Georgetown Veterinary Hospital has the most appreciative and supportive clientele in the Charlottesville area!
Although we provide emergency and critical care, preventive medicine is our primary focus at Georgetown Veterinary Hospital. Regular animal wellness exams are essential to provide a long and happy life for your pet(s). We strongly recommend a wellness physical exam once every six months to ensure the well-being of your pet(s).
We are a full-service veterinary hospital that has been serving Charlottesville and the surrounding area since 1959. We are conveniently located just west of UVA and Downtown Charlottesville near the Barracks Road area. Our hospital is a fully equipped medical, diagnostic, surgical and critical care facility.
We at Georgetown Veterinary Hospital are committed to your pets’ health and longevity as well as to you, their caretaker. We maintain a well-stocked pharmacy for your convenience and we carry a number of veterinary prescription diet pet foods.
Georgetown Veterinary Hospital also offers boarding services for dogs and cats with separate and spacious accommodations for each. Bathing, toenail trims, anal gland expression and other routine grooming services, such as de-matting and partial and full body clips can be scheduled as well.
Drs. Daniel and Virginia Flynn established the Georgetown Veterinary Hospital shortly after graduating from the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Veterinary Medicine back in 1959. It has remained a family owned and operated practice since then… for over 60 years!
We realize that people make the practice. Our dedicated staff is composed of compassionate animal health professionals, the majority of whom have been Georgetown Veterinary Hospital team members for decades. Learn more about our team members here – OUR TEAM
I can't say enough about Dr. Peppard. He is absolutely wonderful with my sweet Ladybug. When he comes in the room he immediately sits on the floor and she climbs into his lap, smiling a big toothy smile.
This practice has taken care of our sweet loved pets for years. Always with compassion, expertise, and kindness. I highly recommend them and won't take our new pup any where else.
Dr Peppard has cared for three of our dogs over a 15 year period. Always the best!!
We have a reactive dog and the whole team is always so patient, loving, and kind to both her and me when times are tough. We also take our cat and dog with pancreatitis for treatment there and are always impressed by the kindness and knowledge of the whole staff.
Front office and Veterinary support team are customer-focused, kind and professional - despite the large volume of animals they handle each day. Very busy practice!
